Description An old mountain town of Romanesque origin located in Pusteria Valley at the mouth of the Tures Valley, near the Rienza River. Today it is the regional capital and the most important town for tourism in the Pustera Valley. The ski area is connected with that of Plan de Corones. The downhill slopes, furnished with facilities for artificial snow, take off from an elevation 2275 meters and are among the longest of the Alto Adige. Among these we note “Valdaora,” “Furcia” and Silvester,” for downhill. In the valley there are many itineraries for cross-country skiing, traversing the entire Pustera Valley. Alpine skiers can cross the natural area of Fanes-Sennes-Braies and ascend Mount Castle, Becchei Peak and Varella, to an elevation of 3055 meters. Sledding and ice skating complete the range of tourist offerings for the winter season To see, the parish church, the church of S.
