This well known thermal and holiday resort is divided into two: Fiuggi Città which is set on the wooded heights of the Ernici mountains, and Fiuggi Fonte, an elegant spa made up of hotels, guest houses, gardens and parks. An avenue connects the two. Fiuggi Città has a medieval atmosphere and the remains of its walls and towers remind you of its feudal history. Amongst the various places to visit is the Church of San Biagio, built in the twelfth century and rebuilt in the eighteenth, the collegiate Church of San Pietro built at the end of the sixteenth century and containing baroque altars and beautiful paintings, and the neoclassical Church of Santa Chiara. Particularly recommended for prevention and treatment of kidney stones and urinary system disorders, the spa waters of Fiuggi, with their low salt content, have been known for their beneficial properties for centuries. Drinking water treatments are carried out in two establishments in the leafy setting of the spa area: the Fonte Bonifacio VIII can accommodate up to 25,000 people for morning treatments while the Fonte Anticolana with afternoon treatment sessions is surrounded by parkland and gardens.
