This is a summer resort with a bathing beach and is situated on a promontory on the south side of Lake Bolsena in the Viterbo province. Farnese Castle, which stands above the town, was built by Antonio da Sangallo the Younger in the sixteenth century and is in the form of an octagon, surrounded by walls. The Farnese Palace and the Church of Saints Giacomo and Cristoforo are near the harbour, and these too are believed to have been built by Antonio da Sangallo. You can sail to Bisentina Island and you can also climb Mount Tabor which is 360m high. |
