Situated on the plain near Forlì, Castrocaro Terme is a well-known spa centre and medieval town with old, old traditions.
The spa centres occupy the most modern part of this pretty little place while the old part has churches and palazzos that are worth visiting. Not to be missed are the Church of San Nicolò, the Baptistery of San Giovanni, the Castle and the Clock Tower. In the grounds of the spa are springs containing chloride, bromide and sodium iodide and sulphurous water with a high level of mineral salts, particularly indicated for the treatment of arthrosis, circulation disorders and during recovery from injuries and fractures. The thermal springs in Castrocaro are also famous for their beneficial effects on conditions affecting the respiratory system and rheumatism. Castrocaro’s wonderful mud, a combination of the spa waters and unrefined clay, is used for gynaecological and dermatological treatments.
