A delightful little town in the Apennines on the borders of Tuscany and Emilia, Bagno di Romagna is situated in the upper Savio valley and has a spa that has been famous since ancient times. It was popular with the Romans who thought highly of the waters of Bagno di Romagna, which come to the surface at different temperatures and with different properties. The sulphurous mineral waters with alkaline bicarbonate are hyperthermal (45°C) and thermal (39°C), while the alkaline, low-level mineral waters with sulphur and bicarbonate are cold (14°C). Spa treatments are carried out in three centres in the town (each one has a hotel) and are particularly indicated for disorders of the osteoarticular and respiratory systems.
