Description The Comelico Valley is located between the eastern portion of the Sesto Dolomites and the carnic chain that serves as the border with nearby Austria. It occupies the hydrographic basin of Padola River, as far as its convergence with Piave River, and is made up of the towns of Upper Comelico, Danta, S. Nicolò di Comelico, S.Pietro di Cadore and S. Stefano di Cadore. These towns in the province of Belluno are frequented both in the summer and winter seasons. The ski area, served by many lifts, is developed in the areas of S. Stefano, Padola, Monte Croce, Casamazzagno and Danta. Among the downhill slopes we note "Fratta Peak,” "Cenerentola" and "Padolese." There are excellent possibilities for lovers of cross-country, who have at their disposition many trails of average difficulty. The longest slopes are “Valgrande,” 15 km, and “Basso Comelico,” with three circuits of 5, 10 and 15 km extending for a total of over 65 km. To see, the parish church of Danta, the church of S. Luca, the Poli de Pol villa and the church of S. Stefano. |
