This is a small town in the extreme south-west of Lake Garda in the province of Brescia. It is a tourist centre, health resort and the main port for boats and ferries on the lake. The town is dominated by a medieval castle that dates back to the fourteenth and fifteenth centuries. Remains of a Roman villa built in the fourth century on the site of an older building, with fine floors and coloured mosaics, can be seen in Via degli Scavi.

The sixteenth century parish church containing several works of art is also worth a visit. In the nearby tourist resort of Padenghe sul Garda there is the twelfth century church of Sant’Emiliano and the remains of a tenth century castle.
