An old medieval town in the high Fassa Valley, it is located at the convergence of the Avisio and Antermont Rivers, the crossroads of important roads that go towards the Dolomite passes. Today Canazei is one of the most mentioned destinations for summer and winter holidays in the Trentino. Immersed in a suggestive alpine landscape, dominated by the Marmolada, in the summer season it offers various possibilities for long hikes along panoramic trails, as well as mountaineering expeditions on the so-called “Palidi” (Pale) Mountains. Winter offers a multitude of possibilities to skiers. Canazei is one of the members of the “Dolomiti Superski,” which unites 12 areas where one can ski with a single ski-pass. For those who prefer not to go too far there are three ski centers above Canazei: Belvedere, Sella Pass, Alba-Ciampac. Good opportunities exist also for lovers of cross-country skiing, such as “Fassa" trail and other itineraries of varying difficulty scattered throughout the lower valley.

For alpine skiers we note the ascent of the Vernel glacier and the route leading to the Marmolada Divide and to Contrini Valley. On the Marmolada glacier one can even go skiing in summer. The after-ski activities offer a range of choices for day or night: ice skating rink, modern ice stadium, hockey, outings with horse-drawn sleighs, covered swimming pool, squash, bowling, sauna, as well as various restaurants, bars, pubs, stores, video-clubs and discotheques.
To see, Carezza Lake, situated at the foot of the Latemar wall, surrounded by a forest of centuries-old firs.
