This health resort on the Brescia side of Lake Garda is situated in the middle of the west shore and made up of the two villages of Toscolano and Maderno. The Parish Church of Sant’Ercolano in Maderno was built in the seventeenth century on the site of a medieval castle whose towers were used as the base of the bell tower. It contains paintings by Paolo Veronese and Palma the Younger. The Romanesque Church of Sant’Andrea

on the lakeside was built in the twelfth century, and has a fifteenth century bell tower and a beautiful door in the façade. The health resort of Gargnano is six kilometres away, in an area of intensive citric fruit cultivation. You can visit the thirteenth century Church of San Francesco with its fifteenth century cloisters, and the nineteenth century Villa Feltrinelli, which nowadays belongs to the University of Milan.
