Information: APT Fassa Valley, Moena office, tel. 0462-573122 fax 574342 Ski Facilities: 2 funiculars, 2 trams, 8 chairlifts, 28 ski lifts. Description An ancient medieval mountain town located at the entrance to the Fassa Valley, between the Dolomite mountain chains of Catinaccio, Latemar and Monzoni, at the point where the S. Pellegrino River joins the Avisio. Today Moena is one of the most appreciated tourist sites in Trentino, located near practical and popular ski complexes. The lift facilities are divided into three distinct, disconnected areas: near the town, at S. Pellegrino Pass and at the Lusia Alps. The latter is the most complex area, served by various facilities reaching 2347 meters in altitude. From this height many slopes descend from the northern side of the pass. Among these we note "Fiamme Oro,” "Lastè" and "Zirmes.” There are also several possibilities at S. Pellegrino Pass, with slopes taking off from a height 2513 meters. The most famous are "Paradiso" and "Margherita,” situated on the two opposite sides of the mountain. Moena is included in the vast circuit of the " Dolomiti Superski" and of the "Ski Trevalli Area,” which permit one to ski with a single pass in 12 different areas for a total of 150 km of slopes. The cross-country skiing is ideal here, thanks to the itineraries in the valley and to the panoramic tracks at the highest elevations. Part of the fame of Moena is due in fact to its celebrated cross-country ski competition, the "Marcialonga.” The after-ski activity is rich in entertainment, both by day and by night: ice skating tracks, covered swimming pool, horse-drawn sleds, curling, sledding, sauna, cinema, bars, pizzerias, restaurants and discotheques. To see, the parish church of S. Vigilio and the 11th-century chapel of S. Wolfango. |
