Description
A pre-Romanesque center inhabited in the past by Illiric and Celtic peoples, located in the Pustera Valley among the high summits of the Dolomite group of the Brsanci, San Candido today is a famous vacation resort furnished for winter sports. Its ski area, included in the circuit “High Pustera Ski Center,” includes 30 lift facilities that reach 2200 meters in altitude.

From this height one winds through more than 50 km of slopes of varying difficulties, among which we cite "Barsanci" and "Doris,” both with facilities for artificial snow. Lovers of cross-country skiing have at their disposition many trails that cross the Fiscalina and Anterselva Valleys. The longest trail, 60 km, each year hosts the Pustera Valley Marathon. The most desirable destinations for alpine skiers are the three peaks of Lavaredo and the horn of Fana, at 2663 meters. Among other winter pastimes, we note two sledding trails, ice skating and bowling on ice.
To see, the Romanesque duomo, the parish church of S. Michele, the chapel of S. Sepolcro, the Franciscan convent, the ethnographic museum and Collegiata museum.
