Description An ancient medieval center belonging to the bishops of Bressanone, Pozza di Fassa constituted one of the “Rules” of the lower Fassa Valley. Recently its territory was included within the boundaries of the town of Vigo di Fassa. A tourist resort furnished for winter sports, it is included in the circuit of the "Dolomiti Superski,” the pass that permits skiing in 12 different areas, for a total of 150 km of slopes, of which 50 have artificial snow. For those who don’t wish to go far from the area, there are the ski facilities at Buffaure, on the left side of the Avisio watershed; those in the village Aloch, from where one descends on the red slope of the same name; and those of the village of Pera, that offer slopes like "Pra Martin,” " Ciampedie-Pian Pecei" and "Cigolade,” which has a system of artificial snow. For cross-country skiers we note the "Fassa” trail, which extends for 30 km along the valley as far as Canazei, following a large part of the “marcialonga” trail. The most popular destination for alpine skiers is Vallaccia Point, at an altitude of 2639 meters. To see, the 13th-century church sanctuary dedicated to S. Giuliana, the church of S. Giovanni and the Ladino museum. |
