Description
An old Roman settlement located on the high plain of the Scilar, at the base of the Bullaccia, in a position dominating the Isarco Valley. Today it is a well-furnished ski resort with good opportunities both for downhill and cross-country skiing.

The facilities around Bullaccia, a chairlift and two ski-lifts, are included in the circuit of the “Dolomiti Superski” and are furnished with cannons for artificial snow. Lovers of cross-country skiing are even lucker. They can take advantage of good trails of medium difficulty, located in the area between Castelrotto and Siusi. Along these trails, every year a competition valid for the world cup takes place. There are also ice skating and sledding trails.
To see, the 12th-century parish church, rebuilt in the 1800’s, flanked by a bell-tower from the 1700’s; the old church of S.Valentino; the Krausegg, present seat of the town hall; and the Schmalzgrube tower, now a hotel.
