Description
Located in the heart of the central Alps, in the Camonica Valley, it is one of the best known tourist resorts of Lombardy. The Tonale Pass, at Ponte di Legno, has facilities as high as 3000 meters, which allows skiing even in the spring and summer seasons. Among the many slopes of the area, which cover over 80 km in all, we note the "Paradiso-Direttissima,” "Petit Pierre" and "Casola II,” adapted to expert skiers and, in case of necessity, furnished with an excellent system of <

br /> artificial snow. The "Pegrà-Pontedilegno,” which is extremely easy, permits one to descend from the pass to the valley with skis on one’s feet. There are also excellent off-trail possibilities, thanks to some lift facilities, or more directly, with heli-ski. Cross-country skiers can count on several slopes, among which we note the suggestive “Valbione,” in a high elevation among the firs; the "Valsozzine,” located near Ponte di Legno; and, more demanding, "Tonale,” which is in the area of Vermiglio. Alpine skiers have at their disposal panoramic itineraries, including the trail to the Petit Pierre Refuge at the Aola Crest.
To see, with the help of a guide, the rock carvings in the Camonica Valley. These are work of the ancient “Camuni,” who here inscribed their story more than 8000 years ago. Interesting also are the parish church with its 16th-century bell-tower and the polyptich preserved in the neighboring oratory.
