Description
An ancient settlement from Lungobard times sheltered in a pass at the base of Mount
Calvario, at the southern extreme of the Rotella group. Now it is a popular area for summer and winter vacations, famous also for the popular representation of the "Presepe vivente” (live nativity scene). The ski area, located on Mount Pratello, includes 8 lift facilities that reach a maximum elevation of 2100 meters.

From this altitude many slopes of varying difficulty branch off, developing over a total of 50 km. Among these we note the "Direttissima,” "Del Bosco" and "Crete Rosse,” which has a chairlift that allow one to reach the ski area of Roccoraso. Lovers of cross-country skiing have at their disposition a 5-km circuit, while alpine skiers can traverse Spaccata Mountain or ascend the slopes of Mount Greco, to an elevation of 2283 meters.
There are many after-ski activities: equitation, archery, tennis, ice skating, covered swimming pool, cinema, restaurants, pizzerias, bars and discotheques. Among the gastronomic specialties we recommend the maccheroni alla chitarra, tagliatelle with ricotta, skewered abbacchio (meat), lentils with chestnuts, and scarmoze (a kind of cheese).
To see, the old town of Rivisondoli and little sanctuary to Madonna del Carmine.
