This place grew up around a basalt rock on the north side of Lake Bracciano in the province of Rome. It was already in existence at the time of the Etruscans, and necropolises of that period have been discovered in the area. The Flabelli tomb in particular has produced a wealth of funerary objects of great interest. The archaeological finds from the necropolises are kept in the Antiquary Museum in the town hall.

You can also visit the Church of the Assunta with its thirteenth century triptych and frescoes attributed to Pellegrino da Udine, and the ruins of Orsini Castle. In Oriolo Romano, to the north-west of Trevignano, you can see the imposing Altieri Palace, built in the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries. The interior is decorated with frescoes and houses a collection of portraits of popes.
