Set in the lush green countryside near Bergamo, the little spa centre of Sant’Omobono Imagna stands at an altitude of about 500 metres. The beautiful surrounding landscape, mild climate and its central position in the Imagna Valley make it the ideal destination for holidays where the keynotes are relaxation, peace and quiet. This little town boasts a sulphurous spring whose beneficial effects on skin disorders have been well known since the 17th century – so well known that its waters came to be called “scabies” or “itch” water. These salty sulphurous alkaline waters containing sulphate are cold (15°C) and are recommended for the treatment of conditions affecting the respiratory system, gynaecological disorders, rheumatism and cardiovascular problems. The spa centre – open to the public from March to December – is situated in the gardens of a splendid 19th-century country house which is now a hotel with a well-equipped health facility.
Sant’Omobono is ideally placed for exploring the Imagna Valley with its shrines, picturesque villages and rustic architecture.
