| The surrounding area offers endless recreational activities, both in the summer and in the winter, with the nearby ski slopes, the funiculars of the Ladurns ski district, the itineraries of Monte Cavallo (Rosskopf Mountain) and the Fleres Valley, which feature alpine pastures, lodges, paths and valleys. Experience nature and excursions, but also villages, castles, museums, history and traditions: Henrik Ibsen, author of A Doll's House, was a famous guest of Colle Isarco: the permanent exhibition of the town's homonym museum is dedicated to him. Worthy of mention, in town, are also the baroque parish church, the chapel of Saint Barbara and the ruin of Castle del Strada, which may be reached by taking an evocative stroll. Other important historical and social elements include the nearby town of Racines, the hunting and fishing museum of the Wolfsthurn Castle, a sumptuous example of South Tyrol baroque; also very touching is the mining museum of Ridanna Monteneve (BergbauWelt Schneeberg). Worthy of a visit: the sanctuary of Maria Trens in the town of Campo di Trens is an important South Tyrolese pilgrimage destination. The town of Vipiteno, set in the charming Val di Vizze, will draw you to its City Hall and Tower of the Twelve. Also attractive are the town's shops, crafts, cafeterias, folk festivals and traditional Christmas flea markets. |
